Bienvenido (Welcome!)
My name is Dayna. My wife and I have been coming to Quintano Roo since 2015. In fact, we got engaged (2016) and married (2017) in Playa Del Carmen “Playa.” We thought we wanted to live in Playa and began visiting a couple times a year to scope out the neighborhoods.
In 2018, we came to Puerto Morelos on a day trip. We fell in Love with the kind people, the laid back vibe and small beach town feel that was rich in culture and bursting with the flavors of gastronomy.
By 2021, we sold everything in Northern Virginia (15 minutes south of DC), boarded a plane with our all black cat, “Cozmoz,” nine suitcases (we had a small amount of items shipped as well), and moved to Puerto Morelos full-time. Our health, relationship, and quality of life have improved significantly.
We started Puerto Morelos, Protips for one simple reason to make life here easier, friendlier, and more connected.
After years of learning what works (and what doesn’t), we wanted to share it all, not as tourists, but as neighbors.

Puerto Morelos Pro-tips exists to provide honest, practical insider hacks, and curated local experiences for anyone building a life in paradise. Our mission is to share authentic insights so residents can avoid common pitfalls and gain everyday wisdom that make living in Puerto Morelos a joy.
